Kathleen Rozeboom, age 89 of Sioux Center, IA, died Monday, December 24, 2018, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28th at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, IA, with Rev. Travis Else officiating.
Prayer service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
Kathleen (Van Rooyen) Rozeboom was born to Walter and Nellie (Fonkert) Van Rooyen on July 30, 1929 in O’Brien County, Iowa. She attended country school and received her teaching certificate from Westmar College. She taught for a few years at a country school southeast of Sioux Center.
She was joined in marriage to Gerrit H. Rozeboom on May 25, 1949. The couple lived and farmed together on the Rozeboom homestead northeast of Sioux Center. They were blessed with seven children.
Kathleen blessed many with her abilities in the kitchen. She worked for several years at the Sioux Center Community Hospital kitchen. Many who came to help on the farm enjoyed lunches and the family spent every Sunday gathered at her house for lunch.
She was a member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center and was known for being a person of a strong and quiet faith. She imparted her faith to her children and grandchildren through faithfulness and love.
Kathleen had a special relationship with her twin sister, Irene. The two of them were in communication daily and shared numerous special life events together.
She is survived by her children: Linda and Rich McCoy of Bluffton, OH; Stan and Cherilyn Rozeboom of Sioux Center; Verlyn and Deb Rozeboom of Sioux Center; Karen and David Vollmar of Pella, Iowa; Arlyn and Beth Rozeboom of Sioux Center and Galen and Chris Rozeboom of Sioux Center; son-in-law, Jim Vander Stoep of Oak Harbor, WA; 19 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; sisters: Irene Pennings and Leora (Lee) De Haan all of Orange City; brother-in-law, Bud Rozeboom of Sioux Center; sister-in-law, Eldine Wegner of Sun City, AZ, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nellie Van Rooyen; her husband, Gerrit; daughter, Janice Vander Stoep; granddaughter, Kara Rozeboom; grandson, Zachary Vollmar; sister, Nelva Jean Van Rooyen; brother, Jack Van Rooyen; sisters-in-law, Marie Van Rooyen, Willie Van Rooyen, Gert Rozeboom, Alice Van Wyk, Dubb Rozeboom and Judy Rozeboom; brothers-in-law, Jim Rozeboom, Dick Rozeboom, Dick Van Wyk, and Gerrit Pennings.
