Ralph Van De Berg, 73 of Sioux Center, Iowa died on Saturday Aug. 6, 2016 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, IA.
Services will be Wednesday Aug. 10, 2016 at Carmel Reformed Church of Carmel, IA at 10:30 am with Rev. Mike Pitsenberger officiating. A visitation will be held Tuesday Aug. 9, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Prayer service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Sioux Center.
Ralph was born Nov. 28, 1942 to Henry and Della (Kroon) Van De Berg at Sioux Center, IA. He was raised and educated near Sioux Center where he graduated from Sioux Center High School. He was a farmer-grain and livestock on the same farm where he was born. He also did part-time work for the city of Sioux Center and Sioux Preme Packing Company.
He married Mary Vander Esch on June 19,1964 at Sioux Center, IA at First Reformed Church. The couple then moved to the farm where Ralph was born and raised. They enjoyed sharing their gift of hospitality with everyone.
He was a member of Carmel Reformed Church. He will be remembered for helping out his neighbors and his willingness to give himself to others without any expectations of getting anything in return. He was a friend to many young and old and grew close relationships through the years. He was very content and happy with his life and legacy.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Van De Berg of Sioux Center; his son, Scott (Jolynn) Van De Berg of Alton, IA; his daughter, Leah Van De Berg of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Van Beek of Alton, IA, Audra (Kevin) Christian of Sioux Center, IA, Weston (Kelsey) Van De Berg of Orange City, IA, Tyson Van De Berg of Alton, IA; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Verna (Arend) Sandbulte of Duluth, MN, Hendrene (John J.) Zoet of Hull, IA, Ardith (Verdean) Wynja of Sioux Center, IA; one brother, Wilmer (Wynetta) Van De Berg of Sioux Center, IA; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd J. Van Roekel of Sioux Center, IA, Leroy (Marilyn) Vander Esch of Port Huron, MI; four sisters-in-law, Joan Van De Berg of Luverne, MN, Geraldine (Robert) De Boom of Allen TX, Linda (Stan) Dykstra of Belgrade MT, Betty (James) Dunnam of Alcester SD .
He was preceded in death by, his parents, two sisters, Elma Van Roekel, Eldora (Harold)Van Zandbergen, one brother, Harold Van De Berg, his in laws, Leonard and Gertrude Vander Esch.
Casket Bearers will be; Sarah and Chris Van Beek, Kevin and Audra Christian, Weston and Kelsey Van De Berg, Tyson Van De Berg, Troy Van De Berg.
