Adeline Lammers

June 11, 1925 — November 21, 2019

     Adeline Lammers age 94 of Sioux Center, IA died Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, IA

     Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Reverend Stephen Breen, officiating.

     Burial will follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with family present at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     In lieu of flowers or gift items the family prefers memorials be directed to Sioux Center Home Health and Hospice.

Adeline Lammers was born, June 11, 1925, to Harry and Wilhelmina (Gesink) Colenbrander near Sioux Center. She had two younger sisters, Eleanor and Sylvia.

Her family moved around the Newkirk, Middleburg, Carnes and Sioux Center area when she was young. She was educated in various country schools in Sioux County through the eighth grade. She enjoyed being outside and helping her father on the farm.

On January 13, 1948, she married Dick Lammers at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. The couple made their home on a farm near Maurice, Iowa. Their son, Harlan was born to them in January 1949. After college, Harlan continued to help his father on the farm. Adeline was active at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center all her married life. She enjoyed being a part of a woman’s circle and guild. Dick and Adeline moved to Sioux Center in 1996. Dick passed away on November 23, 1998 at the age of 74.

Adeline continued to live in their home and took pride in cooking meals and running small errands for her two grandsons while they attended Dordt College. Her family held a big place in her heart, and she loved being involved in activities with them. In May 2009, Adeline moved to Franken Manor in Sioux Center. She moved to Pleasant Acres Nursing home in Hull, Iowa in March of 2010.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harlan and Bertha (Dolieslager) Lammers of Maurice, IA; grandsons, Matthew Lammers and David Lammers, both of Sioux Center, IA; brother-in-law, Henk Aarsen of Orange City, IA; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Van Wyk and Hendrene Kalsbeck, both of Sioux Center, IA; many nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick; sisters, Eleanor (Gordon) Brink and Sylvia Aarsen. She was also preceded by her parents-in-law, Henry and Johanna Lammers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Frank and Fritz Richmond, Harry and Nelvina Mulder, Stan and Nancy Lammers, Elmer Van Wyk, Jason Vander Heiden and Milo Kalsbeck.
