Audrey Van Vuuren

Audrey Van Vuuren, age 89 of Sioux Center, Iowa passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at Crown Pointe Health Center in Sioux Center. Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2026 from noon to 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. A private family service will follow.

Audrey Joyce was born on January 24, 1937 in Milaca, MN to Helmer and Rose (Van Dalen) Modderman. She graduated from Clara City High School in 1955. She then attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI before accepting a teaching position in Platte, SD. 

On, July 18, 1958 she married Marvin Van Vuuren at the Emden CRC church in Renville, MN. They were the parents of four children, Shelly, Mark, Scott, and Lisa. 

Audrey was a homemaker, consignment shoppe owner, enjoyed cooking, gardening, ceramics, sewing, crafting and spoiling her grandchildren. 

Audrey is survived by children: Shelly of Anderson, IN, Mark (Cheryl) of Sioux Falls, SD, Scott of Sioux Center, Lisa of Sioux Center; six grandchildren: Kandy (Kevin) Veneskey of Anderson, IN, Randi Faber of Sunnyside, WA, Mason Van Vuuren of Sioux Falls, SD, Brendan (Karissa) Miedema of Columbus, OH, Brianna (Trayle) Kats of Sheldon, IA, Gabrielle Miedema of Lincoln, NE; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Leah Veneskey of Anderson, IN; a sister, Sandra Kortgard of Faribault, MN; sisters-in-law, Gladys Fehr of Platte, SD, and Verla Modderman of Montevideo, MN; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family. 

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Helmer and Rose Modderman; husband; sister Trudy Mouw, brother George Modderman; and other extended family.
