Betty Rozeboom was born in 1945 in Eldora, Iowa, to Henry and Hilda Eckhoff. She grew up near Wellsburg, Iowa and attended Timothy Christian School for 8 years and graduated from Wellsburg High School. She continued her education at a trade school in Omaha, Nebraska for a year and worked for 9 years at an insurance agency. Betty met Glenn Rozeboom at the Christian Reformed Church in Omaha through the pastor’s wife’s prompting.

Betty and Glenn got married in 1966. Their firstborn son, Steven, was born in 1967. Shortly there after Betty and Steve moved to live with Glenn’s parents while Glenn was deployed to Vietnam. After Glenn’s return they lived in Omaha until 1972, when they decided to move back to Glenn’s home farm to start farming. Scott was born in 1970 and Brian followed in 1981. During this time Betty was a full-time home maker as well as helping with chores around the farm. She also developed her nursing and business skills while Glenn was recovering from multiple serious injuries. She was always there to crack the whip when necessary, strongly encouraging the three boys to do better in school, sports, work and church. She wanted them to jump higher and exceed in everything they did even if it included getting a few stitches or a trip to the doctor if she thought it was necessary. Her encouragement was instrumental to the boys’ establishing a work ethic that would help them run the family dairy farm operation.

As grandchildren started arriving, she was a willing and loving grandmother to her 10 grandkids and 8 great grandkids. She loved to watch the kids’ activities as well as doing crossword puzzles and playing cards.

Toward the end of her life, she fought hard against a number of physical challenges. She cherished life and lived full of the Fruits of the Spirit, even in some of the darkest of hours. If asked how she was doing, her answer was always, “I’m feeling fine!”

Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Glenn Rozeboom of Sioux Center; two sons: Steve and Amy (Poppema) Rozeboom of rural Rock Valley, Brian and Nicole (Van Schepen) Rozeboom of rural Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren: Brooke and Dan Faber, Morgan and Chad Hoekstra, Steven and Jasalyn Rozeboom, Max Rozeboom, Kyler Rozeboom, Alexis Rozeboom, Hunter Rozeboom, Sawyer Rozeboom and fiancé Kara Lemstra, Addison Rozeboom and Brody Rozeboom ; 8 great- grandchildren; a twin sister, Beverly De Jager of Orange City and other family members.

She was preceded by her parents, a brother, Duane Eekhoff; and son, Scott Rozeboom.

A word of thanks to everyone who took an active part of Betty’s health journey. Special thanks to Crown Pointe Estates staff and Brooks McFarland of Compassionate Care Services.
