Brent Davelaar

Brent Davalaar, 56 of rural Maurice died Friday, February 27, 2026, at his residence.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7PM on Monday March 2, 2026, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Ireton, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 8:00AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. at First Christian Reformed Church in Ireton with Rev. Nathan Kuperus officiating.

Interment will follow the service at 11:00AM at the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church Cemetery of Rural Sioux Center.

The Davelaar family prefer memorials be directed to the Three Rivers Cadet Council.

Brent Henry Davelaar was born June 13, 1969, to William and Hertilda (Nobel) Davelaar in Sioux Center. He attended Sioux Center Christian, Unity Christian High and Dordt College. After graduation he worked on the family farm near Sioux Center and took over the farming after his parents retired in 2010.

On February 7, 1997, Brent married Cindy Van Middendorp at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. They were members of Bethel where Brent was a Cadet Counselor. The couple later became members of Ireton Christian Reformed Church where he served as a Cadet Counselor, a Catechism Teacher and on the Church Council.

Along with farming land, he also enjoyed raising cattle and sheep and spending time woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cindy; daughter, Jordan (Sander) Abraham with Ruby of Alburnett, IA; son, Cody (Madison) Davelaar of Sioux Falls; his father, William; brothers: Wendell (Rose), Dan (Sheila), Mark (Lisa); parents-in-law, John and Leora Van Middendorp; brothers-in-law, Loren (Sandi), Arlo (Kristin); sisters-in-law Loann (Dave) Aardema, Carmen Van Middendorp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother Hertilda (Herkie) Davelaar.
