Darrell Koedam, age 71, of Sioux Center, IA, died on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center. Lynette Koedam, age 70, died Monday, August 10, 2026 at her in home Sioux Center.

A joint visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, August 14, 2026, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

A private family interment will be Saturday morning at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa.

A memorial will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. John Lee officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Western Christian High School and/or Sioux Center Health Hospice.

Darrell Wayne Koedam, 71, passed away on August 8, 2026. He was born December 26, 1954, in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Elmer and Esther (DeWild) Koedam. He spent his early years in the Middleburg area before his family moved to Rock Valley, Iowa, where he attended school.

Darrell met Lynette Zylstra, and the two were married on May 1, 1976. Together they shared 50 years of marriage and raised two children, Derrick and Larissa. The family grew up in Luverne, Minnesota, before later moving to Sioux Center.

Throughout his working years, Darrell held various jobs and was a dedicated employee of the City of Sioux Center for 25 years before retiring. He was known for being a humble servant who genuinely cared for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

Darrell loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also had a special appreciation for classic cars and antique tractors. Above all, Darrell was a devoted husband to Lynette, a loving father and grandfather. His grandchildren and granddogs held a special place in his heart.

Darrell is survived by his son, Derrick Koedam and his wife, Alisha, and their children, Chelsea and Ashlee; his daughter, Larissa Draayer and her husband, Nick, and their children, Peter and Lucy; his siblings, Darla Vanden Top and her husband, Doug; Brenda Mars and her husband, Lyle; and Brian Koedam and his wife, Carla; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Esther Koedam; his father-in-law, Lawrence Zylstra; his brother-in-law, Randy Zylstra; his sister-in-law, Shari Stage; and his nephew, James Sandbulte.

Darrell will be remembered for his quiet kindness, servant's heart, love for the outdoors, and deep devotion to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Lynette Gay Koedam, 70, passed away on August 10, 2026. She was born October 19, 1955, in Platte, South Dakota, to Lawrence and Marionette (Van Drongelen) Zylstra. She lived with her family on a farm near New Holland, South Dakota, where she attended school.

Lynette met Darrell Koedam, and the two were married on May 1, 1976. Together they shared 50 years of marriage and raised two children, Derrick and Larissa. The family grew up in Luverne, Minnesota, before later moving to Sioux Center.

While living in Luverne, Lynette worked at a bakery, and drove a van for elderly people. After the family moved to Sioux Center, she worked at the Hy-Vee deli and later at the Walmart bakery. Lynette was an active member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church and spent much of her life caring for and serving others.

The greatest joy in Lynette's life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She loved making and writing cards for others, often using her creativity to brighten someone's day. Lynette also enjoyed baking, drawing, painting, and working in her garden. Lynette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a caring heart and found great joy in the people around her. Her family was especially important to her, and she treasured every opportunity to be together.

Lynette is survived by her mother, Marionette Zylstra; her son, Derrick Koedam and his wife, Alisha, and their children, Chelsea and Ashlee; her daughter, Larissa Draayer and her husband, Nick, and their children, Peter and Lucy; her siblings, Marlys Schuller and her husband, Mike; Reg Zylstra; Nyla Sandbulte and her husband, Dave; Warren Zylstra; Ardis Giddings and her husband, Brian; Wally Zylstra; Lou Zylstra and his wife, Brenda; Dean Zylstra and his wife, Patti; and Mari Bauer and her husband, Mark; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Zylstra; her mother-in-law, Esther Koedam; her father-in-law, Elmer Koedam; her brother, Randy Zylstra; her sister, Shari Stage; and her nephew, James Sandbulte.

Lynette will be remembered for her caring heart, creativity, generosity, and love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and countless memories that will continue to be treasured by those who knew and loved her.
