Goldene Wissink Service Livestream

Goldene Wissink, age 86 of Sioux Center, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Crown Pointe Care Center in Sioux Center.

There will be a prayer service at 9:oo AM on Monday, October 6, 2025, at First Christian Reformed Church.   Internment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. 

Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025, at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025, at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Kurt Monroe officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the Sioux Center Christian School. 

Goldene Wilma Wissink was born February 4, 1939, to John C. and Minnie Klein in Sioux Center, and was raised on a farm north of town. She attended Sioux Center Christian School and graduated from Western Christian High School in 1956.

Goldene was married to Sherman Wissink in Sioux Center on November 27, 1959. She served as the secretary at Sioux Center Christian School for six years before working as a seamstress. Over the years, she sewed countless custom garments and altered clothing for Bosch’s Clothing in Sioux Center. Later in life, she worked at Dordt College for Carrie Foods.

Goldene was a lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center and loved her church family dearly; she was involved in various women’s Bible studies and served as a pastoral assistant. She and Sherm always enjoyed spending time with their cherished friends Gary and Sandy Draayer and Eldon and Wilma Vander Berg.

In her free time, she could be found doing hardanger and needlepoint as well as sewing and making quilts. She liked reading, picnics, camping, traveling and bus trips. Much of their camping was done at Cutty’s Resort at Okoboji where they also volunteered for many years.

She loved her family and centered her entire life around them; they will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her husband Sherm Wissink of Sioux Center; two daughters and sons-in-law: Dawn and Greg Steggerda of Orange City, Iowa and Beth and Brent Disselkoen of Alexandria, Virginia; four grandchildren: Amber and Ethan Huizinga and their children Jacen, Archer and Kalyca; Brandon and Sarah Steggerda and their children Erika and Bobby; Craig and Monica Disselkoen and their children Reid and Ezekiel; and Kyle Disselkoen. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, John Wissink of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Henry and Gertude Wissink; her sister and brother-in-law, Arta and Marion Zevenbergen; and Sherm’s sisters and husbands, Bernice and Tom Mulder, Florence and Al Kroese and Gladys and Harry Link.
