Joyce Te Slaa, age 85 of Sioux Center, IA, died December 8, 2021, at Fieldcrest in Sheldon, IA.
Visitation will be 2-4PM on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church with the family present.
A Prayer service for family will be held at 9:00 AM, Monday, December 13 at the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Hull, Iowa.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, on Monday, December 13, at the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church with Reverend Mark Schwarz officiating. Lunch to follow.
The Te Slaa family prefers memorials be directed to the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church Women’s Ministries.
Joyce Arlene Te Slaa was born December 19, 1935, to Elmer and Dena (Kleinhesselink) De Vries in Orange City, Iowa. She graduated from Newkirk High School in Newkirk, Iowa.
On June 19, 1958, Joyce married Cleo Harvey Te Slaa at the First Reformed Church in Orange City, Iowa. The couple made their home on the family farm.
Joyce was a member of the Middleburg Free Grace Reformed church where she was active in the Women’s Circle, teaching Sunday school, and sponsoring the youth group. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, tending her flowers, baking, collecting Delft, and shopping. She loved to sing, to square dance with Cleo, and the Okoboji Theater. They also shared memorable trips to Holland, Hawaii, Florida, Branson, and the lakes of Minnesota.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Cleo Te Slaa of Sioux Center; four children: Gaylon (Sara) Te Slaa of Mammoth Lakes, CA and their children: Tara (Sunday) Falowo, Jay (Angie), Theo, and Tommy; Kevin (Polly) Te Slaa of Blaine, MN and their children: Andrew Kasma, Kory Te Slaa, Jamie (Aron) Moir and their children: Katelyn, Zach, and Owen; Loren (Deb) Te Slaa of Middelburg, IA and their children: Emily (Mitchal) Punt and daughter Hattie, Nick, Sam, and Sydney; Cheryl (Dave)Bronner of Sioux Center and their children Caleb, Jori, and Noah; sister, Gladys Jeltema, two brothers, Darwin (Mary) De Vries, Glenn (Yvonne) De Vries and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Dena (Kleinhesselink) De Vries; parents-in-law, Gerrit and Gertrude TeSlaa; brother in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Gertrude Te Slaa; brother-in-law, Peter Jeltema.
