Lyle Klein, 85 of Sioux Center died Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa.
A visitation with the family present will be held from 4 PM–8 PM with the family present from 5- 7 PM, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
There will be a time of visiting and prayer service for family and friends held on Thursday at 9:00 AM at Bethel Christian Reformed of Sioux Center, Iowa. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with Rev. John Lee officiating.
Lyle Jerome Klein was born on July 8, 1940, to Harold and Alvina (Eberhart). He was raised in Herreid, South Dakota. Lyle was one of seven children in the Klein family as he was blessed to have four brothers and two sisters.
Lyle married Linda Droog on March 11, 1966. The couple began their married life in Herreid, South Dakota and lived there until July of 1968, when they moved to Sioux Center, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Lori Bonnema and Lisa Damstra. The couple enjoyed 47 years of marriage before Linda died February 21, 2014.
Lyle enjoyed spending time with his friends in his shop, drinking coffee, and working on projects. His door was always open for visitors. When you couldn't find Lyle in his house, you usually found him in his shop. Prior to Linda's passing, they enjoyed playing cards, camping, and going out to eat with friends. In his early years, he spent his days working for Kosters Machine Shop. Later, he started his own business, Klein Machine Shop. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, restoring cars, and spending time with his friends.
Lyle is survived by his daughter, Lori (Tim Bonnema), son-in-law, Brian Damstra, grandchildren: Kyle (Kailyn) Bonnema, Kortnie (Daniel) DeBoer, Logan Damstra, and great-granddaughter, Eliza DeBoer. He is also survived by two siblings: Roland (Cecelia) Klein, Sharon (Don) Clinton, a brother-in-law, Elmer Schick, and several nieces and nephews.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Alvina, his wife, Linda, daughter, Lisa Damstra, grandson, Kory Bonnema, three brothers: Gordon (Rita) Klein, Larry Klein, and Harlan Klein, and sister, Donna Schick.
