Marlyn Zeutenhorst, 81, of Sioux Center died Monday, June 15, 2026, at his lake home in Glenwood, Minnesota.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, June 26, 2026, at New Life Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 26, 2026, at New Life Church with Reverend Dan Kruse officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
In Lieu of flowers or gifts, the Zeutenhorst family prefers memorials be directed to New Life Church or Midwest Honor Flight.
Marlyn G. Zeutenhorst “Zeut” was born on March 23, 1945, in Orange City, Iowa to John and Priscilla (Vande Berg) Zeutenhorst. They first lived on a farm west of Sioux Center before eventually moving to town. He graduated from Sioux Center High School.
Zeut enlisted in the Iowa National Guard in 1965. He served with the 185th Tactical Fighter Group. In 1968, his unit was activated and sent to Phù Cát Air Base in Southern Vietnam. He served as a comptroller. He was a 57-year member of the Doornink Brunsting Post 199, American Legion in Sioux Center. He was proud of his service to his country.
On June 5, 1969, three weeks after returning home from active duty, he married Linda Van Engen at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
Marlyn attended Sioux Empire College in Hawarden, Iowa, where he earned a Business Degree. A true “Jack of all Trades”, Marlyn’s diverse skill set was clearly reflected in his versatile career history. Over the years, he used his expertise in finance, automotive mechanics, facility maintenance, and electrical work.
Marlyn loved watching his grandchildren in their many activities. He also enjoyed tinkering in the garage with his model trains. An avid fisherman, he loved to be out on the lake but found even greater joy when his kids and grandkids joined him as they tried to catch the big one.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda, and their children; Gary and Kim (Dolieslager) Zeutenhorst, and their children: Ellie Zeutenhorst, Janae and Willeam Cam, Kendra Zeutenhorst and her fiancé, Seth Andersen, Jarrett Zeutenhorst and his special friend, Avery McEntee; Becky and Tim Dykshorn and their children: Hannah and Alec Rickabaugh, Charlie and Elle Dykshorn, Luke Dykshorn; two great grandchildren: Beckham and Ivy Rickabaugh; brother, Gerard Zeutenhorst; sister, Phyllis (John) Franken; brother-in-law, Al (Sue) Van Engen; sisters-in-law, Laura (Phil) Van Roekel, Kae Van Engen and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Priscilla Zeutenhorst; in-laws, Gerrit and Ruth Van Engen; sister-in-law, Sharon Zeutenhorst; and brother-in-law, John Van Engen.
