Stanley Kroese, age 90 of Sioux Center, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, near Inwood.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 9, 202,5 at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, August 8th, at Faith Christian Reformed Church. There will also be a time of visitation, one hour before the service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.
Stanley Dale Kroese was born May 4, 1935, the son of Bert and Jeanne (De Jong) Kroese in Hartley, Iowa. Stan grew up on a farm near Sheldon, Iowa. He attended Sheldon Christian and graduated from Western Christian High School. Following high school he joined the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he attended Nettleton Business College.
On December 27, 1955, Stan was united in marriage to Marcella Baker at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church. Stan and Marce moved to Hospers. In 1967 Stan started Kroese Accounting Firm in Sioux Center. They moved to Sioux Center, Iowa in 1972 and raised their 3 children, Randy, Rob, and Renae. Stan continued to be a public accountant for 30 years until his retirement in 1997.
Stan and Marce summered in Park Rapids, Minnesota and Okoboji, and wintered in Arizona. Marce passed away September 23, 2021. They enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching many Minnesota Twins and Dordt events throughout their years together.
Stan was united in marriage to Joan Rens (Vreeman) on January 29, 2022. He was blessed to have extended his family by welcoming five stepchildren and their families.
He was a lifelong member of Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center and was involved in many community events. He also enjoyed mowing, gardening, and most of all spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan; three children and their families: Randy and Roxie (Wieberdink) Kroese and their children and grandchildren: Heather and Jeff Mackey (Spencer & Taylor), Nikki and Curtis Strong (Livia); Rob and Pam (Buyert) Kroese and their children and grandchildren: Jason and Jamie Kroese (Harrison & Haven), Sarah and Mark Rowenhorst (Levi & Luke), Ryan and Kelly Kroese (Walter); Renae and Jaris Visscher and their children and grandchildren: Patrick and Kaitlyn Visscher (Cade, Jace, Aria & Maci), Paxton and Jon Holwerda (Brixten, Scotlyn & Kylan), Paige and Jacob Vander Wilt. Stan is also survived by Joan’s children and grandchildren: Linda and Grant Diekevers and their children and grandchildren: Jennifer and Andy Prins (Drew, Mariah & Desirae) Kayla & Michael Zevenbergen (Brooklyn, Reagan, Blaise, & Victoria) Jason and Alison Diekevers (Ian, Carson & Owen); Robert and Rebecca Rens and their children and Grandchild: Amber Rens, Amanda & Peyton Griesert (Maren) Amelia Rens; Ron and Stephanie Rens and their children and grandchildren: Ashley Schlag, Megan & Dan Reel, (Harrison, Charlotte & Fredrick), Hannah; Gwen and Kris Marra and their children and grandchild: KC , Maddie and Tate Kellenberger, Dustin & Adri Marra (Rosemary) Jordyn & Cade Broek; Julie and Craig Burhoop and their children: Abigail & Isabella; brother-in-law, Stan Hulst; and sister-in-law, Joyce Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marce; and sister, Jolene Hulst.
