Ted Van Bruggen, 93, of Sioux Center, Iowa, died, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Crown Pointe Estates in Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Bob Pollema, officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service on Tuesday at Faith Christian Reformed Church.

Theodore “Ted” Van Bruggen was born on November 26, 1931, to Henry and Lena (Kneubel) Van Bruggen of Ireton IA. He was a baptized and professing member of Ireton Christian Reformed Church. Ted and Eunice were founding members of Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He held numerous leadership positions at both Faith CRC and First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Ted attended the Ireton Christian School through the 8th grade and remained a life-long learner. On June 10, 1952, he was united in marriage to Eunice Gesink and were blessed with 5 children – Doug, Dyxie, Donna, Todd and Tim. As a young man, Ted held various jobs – farming, feed sales, auctioneering, painting and floor refinishing. In 1971 Ted joined the Rozeboom, Broek and Van Bruggen Insurance Agency in Sioux Center. As the partners retired Ted acquired sole ownership of the Agency.

In addition to his church service, he was a board member of many organizations over the years – Mutual Telephone Company, American State Bank, Lions Club, Dordt College and Unity Christian High School. He generously gave of his time to the church and community.

In their retirement years, Ted and Eunice put their faith into action by volunteering with the Sowers organization. Volunteering at many locations throughout the US and annually at the UMOM New Day Center in Arizona. From maintenance, light construction and helping in the thrift store they kept busy helping at the Center.

Ted will be remembered by his family and friends as a man of strong and committed faith. His ability to “pray like a preacher” was well known. He faithfully cared for Eunice as her mental health declined in her last years. His legacy as a father and husband is an enduring blessing to his family.

Ted is survived by his children: Doug (Hedy) Van Bruggen of Sioux Center, Dyxie Van Bruggen of Bend OR, Todd (Jennifer) Van Bruggen of Sioux Center, Tim (Cheri) Van Bruggen of Tea SD and son-in-law Dave Kleinwolterink of Sibley. Grandchildren: Brad (Libby) Van Bruggen, Emily (Chad) De Groot, Brian (Jill) Van Bruggen, Elizabeth (Travis) Roskam, Amos (Heather) Kleinwolterink, April (Brian) Blair, Ethan Kleinwolterink, Kendra (Tyler) Janssen, Kelsey (Matt) Bodensteiner, Amanda (Jordan) Versteeg, Sam (Abby) Van Bruggen, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter. He is also survived by a sister: Arlis Feenstra and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Vonk and Helen Van Wyhe; brother-in-law, David Gesink, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Eunice, daughter Donna Kleinwolterink, his parents; brother Harold Van Bruggen, sister and brother-in-law Jeanne and George Huizenga, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Melvin and Carol Gesink, Owen and Jan Gesink; Richard and Frances Baker; brothers-in-law: Dennis Feenstra, John Vonk, Duane Van Wyhe; and sister-in-law, Audrey Gesink.
