Wenda Kay (Wynja) Horstman was born in Sioux Center, Iowa to Wessel and Dorothy Wynja. Wenda was raised on a farm near Ireton, Iowa. She was lovingly known as “Billy” as a young girl. She graduated from West Sioux High School.
She battled many health challenges starting at 7 years old. She wanted her legacy to be known in her words for “who she was, so imperfect, but a CHILD of God, a wife, a mom, a grandma, great grandma, a sister, a friend, and mostly one who wanted to walk alongside of those who needed a shoulder to cry on, share a prayer with, give a hug or just listen.” Her family members remember her for her cooking, flowers and journaling.
Wenda is survived by her husband, Dave of Sioux Center; her children and their families, her brothers, sisters, in-laws and their families. “Remember now as life goes on – we all were on a path God chose for us, loved us and provided (even though there were times we wished for something different)”
She is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; a granddaughter; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.
