Memorial Funeral Home was founded as a co-operatively owned funeral home on July 2, 1927, by a group of area residents. Originally named Co-Operative Burial Association of Sioux Center, the intent was to offer area families a choice for funeral services and to make funeral services and merchandise available at “a cost that is as reasonable as possible.” In 1972, the name changed and became known as Memorial Funeral Home. 

Construction on the current facility began in August 1994, which opened to the public in March 1995. Memorial Funeral Home had been located at two other sites in Sioux Center. The first was in a store-front building north of the downtown stoplight, on the west side of Main Avenue. The business later used an expanded home located just south of downtown across the street from the current Public Library. 

For almost 90 years, the funeral home was an association-owned establishment. But then, the association decided it was time to change, so on April 7, 2017, Memorial Funeral Home was sold to Jerry and Amy Jurrens, owners of Jurrens Funeral Homes.
